Sending XTS2500 IN for repair

Post by Radio Crazy »

Hi all, perhaps you guys can answer a question for me, I have a legit XTS2500 real serial # with 1A0001-000104-1 which includes Q52 and Q53, with no rear tags on the chassis. If I send it in to the depot for repair will they put new tags on the back of the chassis serial and model # tags and not delete the flash feautures Q52 and Q53 of the flash, thanks RC

Did it leave the factory with that flash or was a flash ordered for it at a later time? If so, no worries. Moto tracks flash upgrades. If done with a labtool or some other way, it will probably come back with the factory flash and nothing else, if you get it back.

They CAN tell if it was flashed with a legit dongle or not. (whether they take the time do so, is another matter!)

I can not say if it left the factory with that flash, I bought it from a guy from a guy in my area and he bought from another guy and so on, so no one really knows the history of the radio, but I smell a labtool upgrade or something considering the guy I got it from said the guy he bought it from got it on ebay from someone in another country. Also will they replace the rear chassis tags on the radio, thanks

What is the serial number? Is it 123ABC1234? If so, you won't get the radio back. If the radio proves to be a pre-QC line removal or the serial number in the processor indicates the radio was never sold, it will be retained by Motorola security.

If the radio has no tags on the chassis, that is always a big red flag. If the radio IS legit, it WILL come back with new tags, just the same as when they replace the frame.

Why do you need to send it in? If you are not aware that HOST/DSP is plagued with PL problems (if I remember right).

This is a valid flash for that radio and serial number. Perhaps bumping the firmware would be in order. ^^^^ He's right. 8.xx is full of bugs.

I certainly would not send it to the factory before checking to see if the actual switch was busted first, a simple fix. Any decent Motorola shop has the tools and expertise to do that repair rather quickly....

I just checked my shelf, we have about a dozen of those switches in stock. For an hour's labor and less than $20 in parts, it doesn't seem worth it to flat rate it to Moto.

Does this mean if I send it in to Depot for repair it will come back with that flash and the rear tags repaired and a bump in firmware?

More than likely, but why spend $300+ for a $10 switch if that is the problem?

You are correct,

Does this mean if I send it in to Depot for repair it will come back with that flash and the rear tags repaired and a bump in firmware?
Is there some one here that I can send it to to be able to do all of that or must it go to the depot for all of that stuff??

There is a great list on the front of this board of repair shops that can do that work, as well as I am sure, some who are reading this thread. There should be a Motorola MSS in your local area. Where are you?

Only the factory can create labels. Everything else can be done at any MSS.
