SM-50 Antenna Jack

Post by Tron »

Anyone have any tips on replacing the antenna jack on on SM-50, short of using a $$$$$$ hot air station?

a fat blob of solder covering all the contacts at about 750 deg on the tip of the iron with a needle nosed pliers rocking it back and forth from the underside

pretty dirty but it works

I got her done. Used one of those large soldering irons used for soldering copper pipes and heated with a blow torch. Took about 15 min total to carefully remove it and wick the solder.
