Quantar UHF PA

Post by WB5ITT »

Had a PA failure in a UHF Quantar.pulled it to send back to the depot...have an external 100watt amp that CAN be easily driven by the exciter..but the exciter or software doesn't like the internal PA missing and won't put any power out (in fact I think it locks in a FLEA power xmit mode beeping)..Tried tieing the exciter straight to the duplexer and it keyed once and then went into a lockout mode....guess it didnt sense the PA or some sense voltage off it...

Any way to get around that? Using the RSS (V13 or 14) OR a wire jumper?? I would like to put the system back on with the external PA (which has PS built in so I don't need to tap into the Quantar..just need RF to drive the
thing!)

Thanks!
