Astro Spectra for monitoring Smartzone Omnilink P25 system

I believe this question has been raised before, however I can't hit on a thread in the search for it. I believe there is a way to program an Astro Spectra to monitor a P25 Trunked System without registering with the system, and keeping everything in receive. I believe it may require some additional user interface in operation to do so. I vaguely remember something about doing this. Obviously a scanner is the right tool, but just curious if it is possible to make it work on a Spectra.

Thanks, after reading the complexity and legal implications of performing this action, I will stick with my scanner and leavit it WELL alone. Good education though.
