CDM acc pin programming for repeater cable HELP!

Post by Paramedic606 »

Hi all...

I have come to the best of the best for help, I am stumped and I am SURE this is going to be really easy for you guys to help me with.

I bought one of THESE http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0095375952 for each of our three ambulances to put together a cross-band repeater for use to repeat into the ER at the hospital.

The FIRST repeater works...it consists of a VHF M1225 tied to a UHF GM300.

The second and third consist of a VHF SM120 tied to a UHF CDM1550...problem is, THESE only repeat in one direction (UHF portable transmits to CDM1550 and repeats successfully by keying the VHF SM120 but when the SM120 receives, the CDM1550 doesn't transmit back onto the UHF portable. It IS a bidirectional cable (we swapped ends and it does the sames thing...I also swapped the SM120 for a GM300 and same result). The PLs are the same for each frequency on each radio, by the way.

I am thinking it may have something to do with programmable pin #8 on the CDM perhaps??? This setup worked perfectly with a RICK but the RICK broke. The acc pins on the UHF CDM1550 are programmed as follows:

Pin #3 is currently set to Ext Mic PTT (Input) Active LOW Debounce ENABLE
Pins #4, #6, #9, #12, and #14 are set to NULL, Active LOW, and Debounce DISABLED.
Pin #8 is set to PL and CSQ Detect/Talkgroup Detect (Output) Active LOW, and Debounce DISABLED.

This has been very frustrating to me, PLEASE help if you can. Think of the patients you will be saving! ...I couldn't help that one...heeheehee....

Thanks in advance...

Thank you again. So the fix actually needs to be done on the VHF side? I thought there was a problem with the UHF but I guess that makes sense since the UHF is actually receiving from the portable and retransmitting successfully. What you described should make the VHF cause the UHF to retransmit through the cable? I'll stop by work tomorrow and give it a shot...I'll let you know, my fingers are crossed!

Edgar, my friend, you are a genius. Worked like a charm. THANK YOU! ...okay, so it took a little longer than a day to get to it...but I finally did! The SM120 was set to NULL on Pin 8. As soon as I changed it, WHAM...I know it is a simple fix but I couldn't have done it without that crucial step...I'm not real savvy with the accessory pins for sure.

Anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate!
