MSF5000 CXB IMBE Mods

Post by shadowman »

Gday all,
i was reading a post from a few years back stating that this has been done already so by now many people must have done this :) I have four 100 watt UHF MSF5000 that i picked up from the local Gov Auctions they all run fine on csq, PL DPL mode, but id love for them to be able to pass IMBE if someone could please pass on the relevant information and mods that i need to perform to make this dream become a reality? :D any relevant info would be appreciated. thanks.

MSF5000 will not pass IMBE. Altough they the later MSF 5000 maybe tagged as "digital" they in fact would only work with the old Securenet Digital modulation and then only if they had the secure option board. For IMBE you would need a suitable Quantar Repeater. These Motorola repeaters do not decode digital modulation locally, they just do transparent repeat. You would need to connect a CIU (via 12K serial link or 9600 Modem)for Securenet or a DIU via V24 for IMBE.

Actually, you can modify an MSF5000 to pass IMBE, as per TPG's post here:

Perhaps he has some details for you, if you ask.
