Don't laugh too hard, but I am trying to get this old radio M470 to interface with a MC3000 and the digital junction
box. The combination works just fine with a normal MCS2000 radio. When I connect up the M470 radio to the
junction box, change the jumpers a pray, nothing happens on the display.
It's like the junction box and the M470 are talking a different language. This radio looks like a MCS2000 with no
control panel. Just a remote head like on the old AMPS phones. Control head has model FLN2270A on the tag.
Anyone have any diagrams of the wiring for the cable and hangup cradle? It has a DB9 female connector on the
cradle.
A call to MOL was not much help. The person there said that if it worked on the MCS2000, when I changed the
junction box jumpers to the iDen position, it should work.
My concern here is that there may be a data speed issue, format issue of the data handshake, or the junction
box is not turning on the M470 radio.
Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a service manual on the M470? A call to the iDen group was like trying
to talk with a store cellular customer service person. I had a hard time understanding the lady and she couldn't
understand what I was asking about. She kept saying this had to be a hand held phone and why didn't the model
number start with an "i". They have no information on any phone with the model number I gave. Then came
the standard answer "We no longer support that phone, you will have to buy a new one".
Good going Motorola, you have my total frustration still going.

Re: Motorola M470 iDen radio info needed - service manual
We have interfaced a few M470's to dispatch consoles, I'll get with the tech who did it and see what he has for notes. The S/M for the M370 does not cover any kind of interfacing and the manual for the M470 was not released below the carrier level IIRC. Itwill be next week before I see him to get the info. I'll post what I get.Jim202 wrote:Don't laugh too hard, but I am trying to get this old radio M470 to interface with a MC3000 and the digital junction

If you want a cable and cradle to ohm out, I've got a box full of 'em. Drop me a PM.
I loved those phones and it irritates me to no end that Funktel won't activate them anymore.

I have 2 cables here. One is a short one and the other is about 10 feet long that go between the M470 and the
handset. That part of the package works just fine. It's when I remove that cable and try going direct from
the M470 radio into the digital interface box that it stops doing anything.

Pins 10 to 13 need to be jumpered to power on the M470.
