Motorola NAF5058A 800 MHz Antenna - genuine or aftermarket?

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I get with radio a little stranger antenna on 800 MHz band. It's marked NAF5058A.

Look on photos at Picasa album.

I never seen personally similar from Motorola: carton box, wave-like washer on SMA connector, round grooves at the bottom part...

This antenna currently available at eBay from panter88 only.

Question: It's genuine Motorola or aftermarket?
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

All genuine OEM Motorola antennas I've ever seen for the high tier radios have "Motorola" VHF/UHF/800/900 molded into the lower end of the rubberized covering of the antenna. Even antennas for the lower tier stuff usually has the "/\/\" emblem embedded in the rubber. I've NEVER seen one that came with a shim washer either.

I believe what you're showing in the photo's is an aftermarket knockoff.

That's an antenna for a Pro Series 800MHz radio. Unlike its VHF/UHF cousins, the 800/900 Waris portables use a SMA antenna connector just like the Jedi and XTS portables do. That antenna is more than likely electrically and physically (under the outer jacket) identical to a Jedi/XTS 800 whip.

For what it's worth, the OEM Waris UHF whip I'm looking at right now on my HT1550 has no markings or brandings whatsoever.

No. It uses the same connector as JEDI, Astro Saber and XTS.

Accordignly to some info from Google, NAF5058A for Nextel.

Reread my previous post.

That was the stock antenna for the iDEN Lingo. As Peter said they are identical to the red end 800MHz under the jacket.
