Post by 125 »

Does anyone know the pinout for the Acc plug on the back of a MaxTrac ? I want to add speaker if it can be done. Are any of the pins for a speaker ? Thanks.

Readily available on the mother site:

You'll want to use pins 1 & 16.

I am also looking to add a speaker to my maxtrac. I see I needs pins 1 and 16. The question I have is, there is a jumper currently between 15 and 16. I also want to maintain the internal speaker still live and operational when I hookup the external. How do I hook this up now that there is the jumper?

Years ago when I was using Maxtracs I tried using both speakers at the same time. The audio sounded funny so I quit doing it. The audio sounded much better using only 1 speaker at a time. GARY N4KVE

You simply need to use pin 1 for one speaker lead, and splice into the jumper for the other lead. Then you can judge the sound for yourself. I've personally never heard much difference quality-wise when using two speakers.

That is the setup I use, Pin 1 and splice into the internal speaker jumper, I havent noticed any audio quality problems either afterwards, I use this setup to have the internal speaker remain working in the cab and to run a external speaker mounted outside at the pump panel on fire engines....
