Is a Flashport RIB required to program (not upgrade) an MSC2000 Flashport?
I've tried programming it via the mic programming cable and also tried via the accessory port and and just getting com errors. I am using a real motorola rib with a fresh battery.

No you can program just find with a standard RIB. No SmartRIB is required.stanstan123 wrote:Is a Flashport RIB required to program (not upgrade) an MSC2000 Flashport?

You mentioned you were using a real RIB box, but did not mention what cable you were using. If you could provide that detail it would help us help you understand where the issue is.

Re: mcs2000 Flashport - Regular RIB vs Flashport RIB
I was originally using an aftermarket rib but then borrowed a real rib to make sure because I was reading in the forums about the radio being picky about voltages.
I've tried:
- Aftermarket mic programming cable
- Home built mic programming cable
- Home built accessory programming cable
The laptop and serial port is used regularly on many other radios. I'm using MCS2000 CPS R02.00.01
I may have just answered my own question though. I was trying to read via the Flashport menu and I just discovered the option "Read Device" under File (which I wasn't used to). I'll go back out and try it again.

Re: mcs2000 Flashport - Regular RIB vs Flashport RIB
Update: Everything is working now. Using the wrong menu option was one of my problems. Just for future reference, my aftermarket rib did end up working, but not with the ebay cable... The batlabs mic cable worked great.
