Radius Mobile program help

Post by hooknladder »

Hello.
I have a low band 46mhz Radius 8 channel mobile with the 16 pin connector. The radio was previously set up to be used with a RICK unit. The only way I can get the radio to power up is to attach the RICK for programming and turn on the RICK. The radio reads fine, but when I go to program it, the status bar only goes to block 110 then shoots over to the far right side.
I tried to put a standard connector in the 16 pin plug and the radio won't power up.
Where in the software do I see if it is set for ignition sense.
I just want to restore the radio to its original configuration for normal use.

Also, if anyone could email a standard codeplug for this radio that might help too.
Thanks.

There's no setting in the RSS that tells the Radius to operate in ignition sense mode.....it's a hardware(fuse) that's located on the logic board adjacent to the 16 pin accessory connector. It's a small [usually] green picofuse that may have one end cut or it may have been blown intentionally when the Radius was set up for ignition sense. You can weither replace the picofuse or supply +12V to the ignition sense pin on the accessory connector via a jumper that you can add to the accessory plug. For details, see http://www.batlabs.com/maxrad.html

It was the ignition sense and also the combination of wires going to the acc plug from the RICK. I used a plug without any other wires in it and wired the ignition sense and it came on. I was a able to program it, but it will only transmit on one of the channels. I used the shift key method for out of band into the 50mhz.
What would be causing it not to transmit? The TX light isn't even coming on except on one of the channels.

What radios do you own?: I can't enter that much....

My first guess on the lack of TX is that the VCO is unlocking. If the one frequency it will transmit on is the lowest one, that tends to support that theory. What split is it actually listed as being? You can read it with RSS to find out, or pull the covers off of the radio, then pull the shield off of the RF board. There should be a number silk-screened onto the board. HLB4099A will indicate a 29.7-36.0 MHz, HLB4100A will indicate a 36.0-42.0 MHz, and HLB4101A will indicate a 42.0-50.0 MHz. If you have anything other than the 42-50 MHz version, I don't know if it will re-tune to the 6m band or not. Even with the 42-50 MHz version, you may very well have to do some re-tuning to get it to do much above 50 MHz. There are instructions for doing this located HERE.
