programming cable for xts5000

Post by saberjerk »

Does batlabs have programming info for the xts5000? If not, why not?
If they do then please link me to the correct spot.
thanks

If it's not on Batlabs it's probably somewhere here on this Board. Use the Board's SEARCH function. If you get too many hits rewrite your search for more limited results.

It might be a good idea to state in your post exactly what information you're seeking.

And to answer your, "If not, why not?" question, please remember that this Board, as well as the Batlabs board, is a cooperative effort of volunteers. If you find something serious is missing then you might wish to be the one to cure the "defect." The emphasis always has been and always will be on input from Board members; without that we're all sunk.

Nothing specific. Just nothing on model specific.
You are right there is plenty if you do a search for xts5000
Guess no on has thought it important enough to document. ;-(

If you go here, http://www.batlabs.com/images/mt2kpin.gif you will find the program cable info.

If your decent with hand tools and have a bad speaker mic, you can make your own cable. The speaker mic
pins can be removed and installed in a different pin location. You just have to take the connector apart,
move the pins to the required location. Also bear in mind that the small circuit board inside the connector
has some circuitry on it that will have to be bypassed to make the programmer cable work.

I would use another type of cable rather than have to fight with a coiled cord and the wires in it that
you probably won't be able to solder to. Many of those cables use tinsel foil type conductors. This
stuff is almost impossible to solder to.

Hey thanks Jim. Are you sure the xts5000 uses the ht1000 cable?

I have one of those.

I know the xts3000 does. Just wasn't sure about the xts5000.

No, the 5000 does NOT use the same cable as the 3000.

If someone wants to post it I can send them a reverse engineered schematic of my original Moto work XTS5000 serial programming cable.

It's in Microsoft paint form but I also have it in an EXPRESS PCB schematic file.
