Ok, here is what i have: I have a Command Plus Console that is hooked to a Gai-Tronics ITA2000A Tone Remote Adapter that is interfaced to a CDM1250 Radio with one channel. The complaint i get is that when the field radio's call into dispatch and radio mileage like " Medic 1 is in route mileage 6.2" either the tone remote adapter or the console is cutting the .2 or the last second off the audio. I have listened to the audio on the console with a handheld setting right beside it thinking that maybe the users were just letting go off the ptt too soon and that is not the case, i can here all the conversation on the handheld plus the 2 second hang timer of the repeater but the console seems to clip it off every so often. Any idea's?

Re: Command Plus Clipping off last Second of Audio
Do the dispatchers notice if the 'carrier' or 'COR' light on the front of the TRA goes out along with the audio? If it seems to follow the light, then the trouble likely lies with the TRA. Is the TRA wired to the CDM for VOX, or COR operation?
If the light remains on while the voice drops out, then it may be a voice level detect setting in the console. I don't know anything about the Command Plus, so I'm not much help to you if that's the case.

I'm not sure about the carrier light on the remote adapter as it is in the basement of the building and the console is upstairs. I think the adapter is wired on the Detect line of the cdm mobile and not vox operation, i will have to investigate further and see if the light stays on when it clips. it doesn't do it all the time just at random.

If I recall correctly, the first dipswitch in each row on the front of the adaptor would be in the 'up' position if COR is being used. If they are down, it's VOX. Early firmware versions had sucky VOX operation, but that was fixed with a later version that actually worked extremely well.

Is mdc1200 being used?? if so the cdm maybe muting the mdc squawk too early disable DOS coast... or are you using DCS? is reverse burst set in radio?? might want to disable that too... check sense level on the tone term panel also...

Mikey....
The problem (IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL IT THAT) is definately with the TRA and it has to do with the VOX setting vs the COR detect. It is a very simple fix with the dipswitches on the front of the TRA. I maintain 3 separate ops at a local PD using these exact units.....and had the exact same concern after I completed their major back room upgrade. If memory serves....SW-A....dipswitch 1 needs to be in the down position.....or at least opposite of what it is now....and the green CSQ (COR) light should be illuminated all the time.......BINGO problem solved!
I will double check the manual and my notes once I get home for a firm answer on which dip switch and its associated position...but odds are...5 minutes and a small flat head screwdriver tomorrow.....problem will be solved!

After years of dealing with the public I have realized.....You Just Can't Fix Stupid!

You were right on the Money with the dip switch settings, the very first switch in the lineup was set to Vox and should have been set to activate when the carrier detect line was pulled low. This was adjusted and we have not had any more problems since. Thanks for the Reply
