Setting up Tk790/890 as station radios

Post by cduda »

Hello...

I know we speak about Motorola radios, but for the Kenwood Fans out there, I have a set of Kenwood Tk790/890 mobiles which I want to set up as radios in a EMS Station house, setting the speakers out in the garage.

Is there a line out or something within the programming to set this type of use up?

Thanks

Are you trying to decode, or just move the speaker? The TK-x90's do not have a 2-tone decoder, you would need to use an external one.

Just speaker...no decode. I image just speaker out? These heads have the speakers in them

You can pull audio off the back of the radio on the 9 pin Molex, it is pins 2 and 6, you need to leave the jumper in from 3 to 6 if not you will loose audio in the heads. This is a balanced output so do not ground ether side.

There is also a fixed low level AU out on the DB-25 if you want to feed a PA.
