Minitor IV programming question

Post by jmfirefighter20 »

Hi Everyone-

I'm working on programming a minitor IV and it's going to be used for two different FD's which both operate on the same frequency. I have a 2-channel, stored voice minitor IV within the correct frequency band of 154.190. Here's the issue...one department uses Motorola Tones at 445.7 Hz/422.1 Hz, and the other apparently uses plectron tones at 2361 Hz/1180 Hz. When trying to put in the tones with the system set to "USER" and the Coding option at R168(NONE), the tone frequencies are at 445.3/421.7 and 2360.8/1180.4. The PPS will not allow me to input the exact tones without rounding due to tone spacing requirements, which I gathered from the help file.

Will the pager still alert with the slight difference in tone values, will it not work with both, or is there a work-around somehow?

Thanks,
Josh

The internal rounding in user mode on Min IVs and Vs almost always works OK...the general rule is that if the rounded number is within +/- 1.5% of the actual tone frequency and the two tone frequencies are more than 1.5% from the median of the two actual frequencies the pager will recognize it properly and alert reliably.
