ADP with KVL3000+

Post by SO_RSU12 »

I have XTS5000 portables that I need to load ADP into. My CSR brought PCMIA cards with one flash per for UCM upgrade. Some of my radios do not have the UCM for upgrading, so I am assuming that those will take a firmware upgrade for ADP. My problem is I have pushed the ADP upgrade into the portable using the KVL but ADP is not showing up when I read the radio in CPS and CPS wont allow me to change the button from hardware to ADP.

Portable in service mode reads
Host version 11.00.03
DSP version 11.00.03
Secure ver R05.05.02
KG1 DES-OFB
KG2 DES-XL
KG3 ADP

It seems the radio has the ADP installed but how do I get to it? Does anyone have any experience with installing or configuring ADP using the KVL?

I think you're confusing software ADP with hardware ADP. You use the KVL3k+ with the latter, not the former.

Akardam's correct... if you have ADP in the UCM (KG3 = ADP), you want the encryption type set to hardware. It sounds like you have other radios that don't have a UCM - these will either need a UCM with ADP added, or software ADP enabled via flash upgrade of the radio. Those will have the encryption type set to ADP. Keyload an ADP key into a slot in the UCM-equipped radios and load the same key into the non-UCM radios via CPS, and they should communicate nicely.
