Quick Call paging on CDM 1550

Post by bedfordlawdawg »

I have just programmed a CDM 1550 and needed some help. I have set up 2 channels as paging channels. The tones are set up properly, but I still get radio traffic w/o being paged. Am I missing something? One is for fire, and the other is a NOAA NWS with the 1050hz tone.

Thanks,
BG

You have to set up the signaling squelch for "AND" not "OR".

You can find it under conventional personality > signaling > (and under rx signaling) set it for "AND".

Also make sure that your signaling is set for the correct Quick Call system.

(By the way, the "noaa" QC system should be set for a long tone)

It uses reverse Polish notation. If you select Call Alert, you cannot select Sel Cal which is what you really want. Set Call Alert to None, then select Sel Cal Decode, then set you tones in the next tab. The radio will stay muted until toned up just like a pager.

Hope that helps

I've never tried it, but a CDM might be able to decode 1050 as a long tone group call. Someone would have to experiment. Your other choice is to incorporate a third party decoder into a rcvr.

Yeah. In the CDM there are several choices for QCII format including A-B / long B. Set A for anything, and set B for 1050. It should decode the long NOAA tone.
