HT 1000 accessory connector?

Post by artman »

Hello, what does pin 4 OPT B+/(BT PGM SEL) do? Is it battery voltage, if so what current is available and is it regulated? Is pin 4 activated in rss? My VOM shows voltage I just need to know if I can draw power from here. Thanks, Matthew

This is the source voltage to control signalling for accessories plugged into the side connector, such as a speaker mike, mandown switch, etc. This is a VERY low current source. If you want to use it for powering an LED, that might be OK, but for any substantial amount of current above a few mils I wouldn't trust it.

I am using a nmn 6193b speaker/mic and need at least 125mA @ 5.5vdc (prefer 7vdc)to the speaker/mic. Could I disconnect the B+ at pin 4 and connect a jumper from the battery to pin 4 or is there a need to have that B+ at the speaker/mic to make it work? If so is there another pin I could do this at? thank you, Matthew

More info needed. The speaker mike you mentioned is designed for this radio, and will function with no problem. What is the additional current for? And no, you can't modify that pin, it is what tells the radio a speaker mike or other accessory is connected.

My goal is to incorporate an embedded gps and micro trak into the hand mic without using an external battery. Are there any other pins that I could disconnect and jumper battery voltage to? This would be a great time for schematics or a service manual but haven't found one yet. Thanks again for trying to help me with this project, Matthew
