Just curious if anyone else is using Intergraph CAD software with their Banner interface to a Centracom Gold Elite to get alias information. Personally I was against this in the first place, but I was overruled by those who get paid more than me.
Anyway, the most recent version of Banner software is screwing up the Centracom dispatch console. It is bringing up unused BIMs that are programmed in the CDM, but not on the dispatch console. Also, it forces the system to reset the COIM on program start-up, making the CEB think that it’s experiencing a power failure. In one instance, the CEB sent itself into recovery!
Thoughts?

A gleaming dispatch console - $1000000
A CAD interface that farbles the gleaming console - $100000
A pair of wire cutters - priceless

Sorry Wiley - no idears, but you have my understanding.

I think Bill G actually has a good idea. "A CAD interface that farbles the gleaming console - ". There may be some good thinking here.
Why would the Intergraph/Banner be doing anything except ONLY reading the Alias information from the Centacomm?
Is the interface loading down the Centracomm data buss?
Does the Centracomm run ok without the interface?

Would Wireshark be a good tool to look at this, or is it a serial interface? I've had passenger counters and 3M Opticoms stream the J1708 interface on Orbital Science vehicle telemetry units, and all kinds of happiness occured. I've also seen third party devices connected to Spectra spi bus that caused grief. If the Intergraph tie in is by eth, then you can at least look at it with Wireshark to see what data is being passed and by whom. Otherwise, you'll need a protocol analyser.
