This radio was installed professionally in and is in use on a motorcycle. Yesterday, while riding, the radio reset all the sudden and displayed "FL 01/90" and went into reboot over and over, then did a self-check and came on and opperated normally.
Not thinking anything of it and after restarting the motorcycle an hour later, same issue arose, but this time, it never came out of the Fail message or just stayed in the reboot loop.
I checked all the power connections and everything seems just fine. Can you help?

Fail 01/90 means the control head is not talking to the radio controller. First step is to verify no wires have shorted, no solder joints have gone cold and that all wiring harnesses are securely attached.

Re: Fail 01/90 on W4 motorcycle astro spectra
I am having the exact same problem with an Astro Spectra consolette. The radio will turn on normally at the start of the day. Work for about five minutes and then the screen either freezes or goes into the FAL 01/90 loop. Turning it on and back on will not solve the issue and the fail code/loop continues. If the radio is left for several hours/overnight, it will work normally for the first five minutes then repeat the above.
I have checked cable connections for the control head, radio and control board in the consolette as well as disassembling the radio and ensuring all boards and secure module are seated correctly. I'd be interested in any other suggestions.

Re: Fail 01/90 on W4 motorcycle astro spectra
In the consolette case, my bet is a number of possible sources for the problem. You could have an inter board
connector that is having an issue with a good connection. The cable connection between the control board
and the front panel of the radio could have a poor connection. The interface adapter behind the front panel
on the face of the radio could have a poor connection. The cable leaving the front of the radio going to the
head could have a poor connection. You might even have a bad interface connection inside the head.
You might want to measure the power supply voltage for the consolette. They run rather warm and could
have either too high or too low a voltage output. You might want to measure it when the radio is cold
and has been off all night. Then again after it has failed. There is a requirement for an ignition feed to
the head to the best recollection of my gray matter. Can't remember if there is a fuse involved with the
feed or not.
Get in there and start poking around. As for the bike install, I would break and remake the cable connection
between the radio and the head. You could have had some corrosion set in on the connectors from rain
water and making a bad connection. Also check the 12 volt feed going o the head for ignition control.
Low voltage on that line will cause all sorts of strange problems.

Re: Fail 01/90 on W4 motorcycle astro spectra
It's been my experience that fail 01/90 means the A+ fuse is bad. I would carefully go over every crimp, battery connection, fuseholder, ground lug, and screw terminal.
