Re: HT1250 Unreadable
Well if it transmits and recieves, then I wouldn't say it's bricked... How about a little more info then just saying the computer won't read the radio..
Are you using the correct CPS?
What kind of error messages do you get when it won't read?
What kind of cable setup are you using?

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
Hi,
I'm the one who is trying to program the radio for Jeff. It's weird and my setup works fine with my HT1250 portables.
HVN9025 CPS version: 6.07.04
Supported region(s): AA
And before anyone asks....YES, I acquired the CPS legally from /\/\ in 2004.
Jeff's HT1250 model: AAH25RDH9AA6A?
THe "?" character was "D", IIRC, different from the expected "N".
Jeff, can you please confirm the model #? I'm writing it from memory and from the model number decoding chart. Everything in the model number matches up except for the last letter. The HT1250 appears to be a 128 channel UHF lo-split version, full keypad model.
The programming cable I'm using is an RKN4075A RIBless cable. I'm able to read from and write to my own HT1250 UHF portables so I know my cable is good.
I get 2 error messages when trying to read Jeff's radio. The first is "Unsupported model". The second message is "Application does not support reading this file."
The CPS appears to be communicating with the radio. The behavior is different than if the radio were not connected or powered OFF.
Any help is appreciated and hope the above information helps.

David,
Do you know what firmware version the HT is currently flashed with?

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
This also sounds like the CPS is too old for the codeplug in the radio to me.

HT1250 Unreadable
The radio says the software version is R05.14.03. Also dave the model number AAH25RDH9AA6AD is correct. Sorry about the delay time my posts are being moderated.

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
Yes, welcome to the new world of Motorola error messages for Pro Series (which appear to actually lie within the firmware, since 6.07.04 was still old enough that it gave codeplug too new errors back when it was current) that have absolutely no bearing on the problem whatsoever. Instead of fixing a couple of incorrect error messages, they deactivated all error messages and now you will only get the generic ones and they only refer to you to the help file... useless.
Re: HT1250 Unreadable
Also, since that radio has current firmware, can you confirm whether or not it was cycled through the depot in the last 2 months? They have been having a number of problems with bad model number reflashes on CDM1550LS+ for me lately, wouldn't surprise me if they were doing it for portables too. The depot claims it's a software support problem and not their problem

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
No, I cannot confirm that this radio has been in the depot, but i found some new information that may be of interest. When I looked this radios FCC ID up i found that the radio is actually a GP338 with an HT1250 label on it. I found it Here! That is probably the problem with this radio considering it is my first Motorola. Dave you were right about the model number being off.

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
If you perform the registry hack as per other posts on this board, your CPS should recognize all regions including Europe, which is, if I remember correctly where the GP338 hails from.

I tried to see if the Motorola CPS would write with the all regions hack with no luck. Thanks for the help

Re: HT1250 Unreadable
Did you test on the newest available CPS, from your firmware version, its quite recent(2009 release, codeplug should be the same as well).
Try to test on the latest CPS available, tested your model number , AAH25RDH9AA6AD on R06.11.05 CPS and able to work(read etc).
