Looks like a common spanner nut, similar to those used to retain a Saber
or Astro Saber chassis in its case. If you don't have the correct tool try
using a needlenose pliers with the two tips spread to the correct dimension
and fitted into two opposite cuts in the nut. Takes longer to explain than
to actually accomplish.

I have removed Lever Switch and Nut under it. But I am still unable to remove Control Top from chassis.

All looks like something holds Control Top in External Antenna Plug area.

Any tricks?

I think the whole shaft will will have to come off...You just can't remove that plastic ring....You will have to desolder the bottom of that component and remove the shaft/switch straight up.

But,I could be wrong...??I think the easiest thing to do is just get a DOA unit and get its frame that is good and use the frame from the DOA/parts unit..

I have removed 'Switch, Top Button' shaft. It holds by feathers (tabs) of 'Clip, Switch Retaining'.

But I am still unable to remove Control Top :x

Something hold it!

Any ideas?

You have to remove the main RF board from the frame, remove the controls from the control top and remove the two small phillips head screws that go through the frame into the control top.

Guys,

I am successfully passed through disassembling and assembling Astro Saber!

Problem with removing "Control Top" has been in "Plug, External Antenna" and "Clip, RF Ground". See below:

Image

After removing them I've been able to remove "Actuator, Antenna Switch", "Switch, Antenna" and at last, "Control Top"!

Thanks to forum user who sent me PM about.

There are no screws that go through the frame into the "Control Top". And removing controls is NOT necessary.

But all who wants to remove controls should keep in mind that it is not simple procedure, because "Flex, Control Top/PTT" glued to the frame. Costs of new flex is $118.65.

Is an any alternative for 6680371B34 (Torque Bit, for RX/TX Switch Spanner Nut) available? MOL asks $49.00 for this part! :o Maybe anybody knew original manufacturer of this parts or knew any other alternative?
