GP300 - Low/weak Tx Modulation.

Post by Satelite »

Hello:
I have a GP300 16ch VHF portable that transits low/weak audio and im pretty sure its the mike jack in the radio.
Model number P93YPC20C2AA.
What is the best way to bypass the accessory jacks transmit part of the speaker / mike jack.
I have in the past had a UHF P94 give me this trouble but simply cleaning the inside of the jack with contact cleaner solved the problem but not with this P93 unless a speaker mike is plugged in.
Would the UHF P94 be bypassed the same as the P93 by chance ?
If not id like to jot down the info for the P94 for future reference as well.
Appreciate the help .
Thank you .

It may well be the spk/mic jack, but also, possibly, the internal mic. element. A number of years ago, Mot. apparently had a run of bad elements. You may have one that "snuck through".

If you have more than one GP300 you may want to try removing the radio that you are having the issue with from it's housing and testing it in a housing from another GP300 to see if you have the same issue. Then at least you'll know for sure whether it's the radio or the mic element that's bad. If it is the mic element I might be able to set you up with a spare.

Hello:
Apreciate the ideas - but i have already put a new mike element in the radio and no improvement.
It doesnt do it with a speaker mike.
Pretty much sure its the jack conections and i have tried to clean them but the contacts seem to be pretty worn.
I believe the answer is to eigther replace the jack or wire around it.
Id prefer to wire around it and be done with the jack all together.
Thank you.

If you''re sure you'll never want to use a spk/mic go for it. Jack is cheap and easy to replace, though.
