While not officially supported, I tried my newly acquired Commander II mike on my VHF MT2000 and UHF MTS2000 and IT WORKS! well, 90 percent of it does:
TX audio and RX audio are fine, channel knob works, side buttons work, top button works- the only buttons that don't are the volume up and down buttons.
Even has some functionality on an HT1000, TX and RX audio are fine, top button works, and side button 1 works- no channel selection and no volume up and down.
So why is it that the XTS2500 "ignores" the Commander altogether? Connecting it to my XTS2500 and it does nothing at all. So how is it that other Jedi mikes work fine with the 2500 (NMN6191/6193)?

I'm thinking on a side conversation here but I do believe the XTS2500 had some slight differences in their side port configuration which make them the black sheep of the Jedi accessory family. One would probably have to have the XTS2500 detailed and the MTS2000 detailed and do a comparison.

I looked at the relevant pages in the 2500 & 5000 detailed service manuals (4-23 & 3-34) and the pinouts look the same to me. Not saying for sure that they are, but they look like it.
Knowing Motorola, if I had to take a wild guess I'd say that the radio is programmed not to work with the commander mic for some reason. Why, I have no clue. Maybe for the same reason we can't have selectable high/low power.

This was being discussed in the Astro forum recently. A couple of the pins were shuffled (for whatever reason) on the 1500 and 2500's leaving the full function commander and commander II's not capable.
The lower tier RMN5038 series with high/low volume and emergency button works on them fine.
You just can't have the remote channel knob and full range audio (high low only).

Curiously enough, IIRC the GPS mic with the channel select will work on a 2500, but I believe it requires host 10 or higher

Guys,
You are satisfied with sound quality from RMN5089?
I own RMN5023 Commander+ RSM. It looks fantastic and solid built, but I don’t like his sound quality on receive. It provides mutter sound and information receive is considerable difficult.
I compared it with EFJ 589-0015-057 Speaker Microphone and old style Motorola RSM for JEDI and they are both sounds considerable readable/clearly!
But how sounds RMN5089B? Very closer to RMN5023 or considerable better?

I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.
