MTX8000 w/ Ribless Cable
I am attempting to program an MTX8000 with a ribless cable. Everything is connected correctly and the settings are right as far as I can tell, but the RSS is showing that it cannot communicate with the radio. I have tried everything I can think of, other than using an actual RIB. If I use a 9 to 25-pin adapter, would the ribless cable work with the RIB?

What OS are you running your DOS RSS on? If it's not DOS, that would be a start. Otherwise, it should work.

Re: MTX8000 w/ Ribless Cable
I guess first of all, there is no such thing as a factory made 'ribless' cable for the MTX8000 series. There are however several Ebay sellers which build so called 'ribless' cables for them, which have a miniaturized RIB circuit built into the DB shell. Is the "ribless" cable you're talking about one of these? If so, your mileage will vary greatly depending on the build quality of the cable. The quality ranges from ok, to instant brick-maker.
If the ribless cable you have is an actual Motorola cable, it is meant to work with the Astro25 series of portables (MT/PR/XTS1500/2500/5000), and is not compatible with the MTX8000 at all.
