If there's anyone out there who has interfaced a KSU (NEC Elite IPK - or similar) phone system and a station radio, i'm looking for some help. We have an NEC Elite IPK phone system, and a CDM 1550 radio in a station audio system. Looking to find out what would have to be done between the two systems to allow the phone system to have an intercom station activate the radio and pass TX audio out of it...easier to have 15 phone ports with an intercom assignment for radio, rather than 15 mic ports. I've gotten pretty good at the IPK stuff, and i'm all right now with the radios, but i can't find anything SPECIFIC as to what would make the interface between the two. I'm open for options, as the NEC dealer said "uhhh we don't do radios", and the moto guy said "uhhh wanna buy a Trbo?". I know i'm looking for some kind of tone or local remote, but what's it gonna take?
any help, ideas or whatever.

Re: Phone system & station radio?
Have you considered a Zetron telephone interconnect panel? It probably won't work off the intercom ckt, but can be assigned a pots extension (like a fax line) that people can dial to. If your ksu has opx ports, it's a matter of configuring an extension number. The port rings when someone dials in. The Zetron auto-answers and will key the station (clumsily) with vox. Talk to transmit, shut up to receive. Not a perfect solution but it works.
