Trying to convert a C3 MaxTrac to C5.
Blanked the radio using extended codeplug / erase tune data.
Opened MaxTrac Trunked RSS. Loaded codeplug for a C5 radio, performed board replacement procedure and the codeplug programmed into the radio. Radio came back to life.
Read codeplug out of radio, made modifications, and on reprogramming get the error "You are trying to put a 101 EEPROM Map into a 100 EEPROM Map".
Can't continue.
Tried blanking with normal codeplug/erase tune data - no luck.
Tried blanking & reinit with conv maxtrac software as a MaxTrac Trunked SmartNET C3 - no luck, works but gives me "Codeplug Checksum Error".
Wouldn't mind just getting this thing back to a C3 but I haven't got a saved codeplug for it.
Any help?? Has the HLN9383A SmartNET firmware in it.

No help at all on this? Surely someone has done this in the past...
Re: MaxTrac C3 to C5 conversion issues. Help?
There are a couple of sites that have some of the information on how to bit bang the hex codes to modify
the radio. You have to get the radio to think it is a C5 by the model number and then load the codeplug
back into it.

OK. Anyone have any more detail?

OK, let me ask the dumb question, "Have you checked out the MAXTRAC info on the Batlabs site?" If not, then
go there, look up the Maxtrac radio and spend some time reading the entire folder there.

I have indeed checked out the MaxTrac folder on www.batlabs.com. As well as performed a search here on the board and elsewhere.
