MTR2000 Wildcard w/o Aux IO

Post by WmHPowell »

Looking for some help here.
I support a mess of MTR2000's in PS use as duplex, remote base radios.
I have been asked to figure out how to selectively place them into stand-alone repeat should we loose the links or console.
The DTMF decoder is the easy part but it looks like all the Euro GPI pins are dead and the Wildcard option is greyed out in the RSS. I've had no luck from MRSS except to buy Aux IO cards at $600 each and the "Wildcard flash" for $??.
It looks like I can do a repeater set-up function but will that REALLY do it?
There's got to be a better way! Decoding DTMF then converting it to a momentary function tone to the wireline receive pair is just too cruuuuude.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I did this with Quantars. Essentially a failover. Upon carrier det, start timer. If no keyup command from comparator after time expires repeat internally. I'd have to look at the code plugs to see the actual statements I wrote. But! Those were Quantars. Maybe you can Tom Edison something with a repeater controller and a timer using the tone control to stop the timer. Total project with new equipment might exceed the costs of the wildcards. Maybe you can find a simple ctrlr used.
