IMPRES Chargers with BatteryZone Batteries

Post by ryujin »

I am making the slow move to IMPRES for my XTS2500. I bought a charger today for $105 new on eBay. Right now I only have a BatteryZone NiMH that might be bad, and another NiMH from imax_expert (eBay user)
Can I use these batteries with the IMPRES charger until I get an IMPRES battery next month? I ask because I suspect my current charger (a used NTN8831a) is going bad. Thanks

I have a single Impres charger to which I added the LCD display. If I put a non-Impres battery in it the display reads, "Non Impres Battery" but it charges the battery just the same. The other thing about the Impres charger is that, like your 8831 charger, it's a
tri-chem (NiCd, NiMH, LiIon) capable unit.

This is correct. Even though the Batteries Plus battery may say it is the same as an Impres battery, it is not. It will charge, but you will get none of the Impres features. I have a dreadful time explaining that to our customers who insist the batteries are 'the same' as the Motorola one, until I plug them in the charger and actually show them....
