what cable do i need/use also is there a Schematic for it
i have a rib but also a usb would be nice

None of the Astro25 products use a rib.. Buy a Motorola cable, your radio will thank you for it..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

If you look around on the CD that you got from Motorola, there is a section on there that has all the service
item part numbers you will need. The programming cable part numbers are included there.

ahh ok i see some of the cables are usb and some are Serieal are they the same

Well one uses the serial port on a computer and the other uses the USB port on your computer. If your
asking these questions, it may be better that you don't try to program the radio. There are a number of
different areas in the software that you have to go into to set the radio up for frequencies, CTCSS, time
out timer, scan, analog, digital and so on. You even get the option of setting the soft function user
buttons on the control head.
If you don't know what your doing, I would recommend that you stay out of the radio programming.

i have used CPS and RSS for years i have 3 Computers set up for varius years of radios 2 DOS for older Radios
i know what to do when programming. i just dont know what the set up is for the newer radios like this. seeing how regular batlabs does not have info on the newer radios
