There is a local Motorola shop going out of business in my area.

They have a used HT1250 for sale.

My question to them was if it would work in a repeater that has an output of 154.9725.

Of course, the "Guy" at the shop that would know that was nowhere to be found.

Does anyone here know if the HT1250 can be programmed to 154.9725 narrow band?

My reason for asking is I once bought a radio and when I went to get it programmed they told me the radio wasn't divisable by something and would not work.

An inquiry such as this is best handled by looking at the manufacturer's site that can easily be found via Google. In this case it is at:

If you scroll down to the specifications page you will find that the radio is capable of being programmed in 25, 20, and 12.5 kHz steps.

On the very off chance that the 1250 was ever made in wideband-only mode you might want to double-check this with the shop, but
virtually all Motorola portables that are considered "modern" have been made with the 12.5 kHz step as part of their firmware.

I already checked the spec sheets.

The channel spacing is listed but it does not say anything about tuning steps. If it does I'm sure missing it.

If the somewhat limited knowledge I have is correct, the "25, 20, and 12.5 kHz" are the available bandwith settings. (That means it can do wide band or narrow band.)

I went back to the shop today and I guess I got my answer.

The HT1250 apparently cannot be programmed to 154.9725MHz narrow band. The guy went on to tell me that none of the Motorola radios can program some of the new frequencies that aren't divisible by 5kHz or 6.25kHz and that is why he was closing his shop and opening up as a Kenwood dealer. He even showed me the error from the programming computer after I asked him to give it a try.

I don't know if this is true or not. At first I was swaying toward believing it was true because who wouldn't want to sell me something if I was standing there with cash in hand and the error code that he showed me when he tried to load the frequency. Then he started talking to me about a new Kenwood radio that was supposed to be the latest and greatest for just a little it more. So now I'm just as confused. Was he just trying to sell me a new Kenwood or is what he says true. I would love to have a HT1250 instead of the beat up Vertex VX-160 I have now. At least I still got my cash.

All signs seem to be pointing that I'm just not going to have a HT1250 on 154.9725MHz. No one seems to have ever programed one to 154.9725MHz. And if they have they aren't sharing how one would do such a thing.

HT1250 will accept 154.9725MHz as a valid frequency and will accept 12.5, 20 or 25 KHz channel bandwidths for this frequency as well

I just tried to program that channel. Works fine.

H25KDH9AA6 in CPS R06.11.10 DOES accept that frequency just fine.

I could not find an HT1250 codeplug that would not....
