HT1550 strange problem

I have been having an intermittent problem or at least I just noticed it, on occasion I will ptt (xmit) and find the radio will do nothing- remains on, no red light, no screen changes, simply nothing as if I never pushed the switch. then I will rotate the channel selector and its fine. I cant seem to reproduce this problem at will and if I remember correctly none of my side or front buttons work when this happens either. this is not a beat up radio its less than a month old and has NEVER benn dropped or bumped. Any ideas?

Depends. What firmware revision is it? 2.2 and higher is the way to go.
