MDC 1200? You could set it to EOT (Post) so it would make a noise. However, it is kind of annoying when not muted and it may be annoying to others.

Is this an amateur repeater? I know most already do the beep for you when you drop TX.

I know the HT1000 can do this, but it may be possible to have a DTMF tone (or two) to go off at the end of a transmission. Will sound better on the ears.

Thats about all I can think of. I don't have much knowledge on the GM-300, so maybe there is possibly a roger beep option?

From the two motorolas I own (Spectra and HT1000), there is no dedicated roger beep that I have ever seen in the RSS.
Radios I own: Spectra VHF 110W with A7 head, HT1000 VHF, ICOM IC-F30 VHF, and a Puxing PX-888 VHF.
Scanner I own: Radioshack Pro-164

If you want to get around the 16 mode scan limit on the Motorola Spectra, then read this guide and go to the original thread Here! 8)

Perhaps the repeater has a controller that will do a courtesy tone? Check with whoever runs/owns it.

If you just want to make "noise" when you unkey just do MDC on a post PTT but this will sure to piss off others after awhile.

You could also try saying "Over" or "Kick it Back" or "C'mon".......

The reason that kit is in a CB ad is because that's where roger beeps belong, in the CB band. The fastest
way to have you friends come looking for you with less than good intentions is to start putting funny noises
before or after your radio transmissions. You may be actually thinking of the "invitation to transmit" beep that is used
on trunked systems for a definite purpose, which is to tell you that your radio is connected to the system and
the system will take your message and is not what you call a roger beep. Unless everyone on your system/channel/
repeater/whatever is doing/using the same thing you'd probably be very unwise to do something like this on your own.

Look in your signalling setup to see if you have any transmit signalling in your radio. Then see if it has any options like pre or post ptt ani. Doesn't matter if it's mdc, dtmf, or two tone. If your radios have signalling, turn one on a see what it does.

You could, and probably should, just buy a pair a CB's.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

i personally like the idea of using a post MDC data burst, it makes me stand out, and it gets the occasional conversation going on the local ham repeaters about the benefits of MDC ID, and it always gives me an opportunity to share with people the quality and features of motorola gear. yes i have the same repeaters in a different zone without MDC so im not doing MDC 24/7 but when i get a hankerin' for some DATA TX i do.

i would really like to get some MDC600 goin' or MODAT! the locals have never heard the turkey call, and if i had it, they would be introduced :)

i feel ham radio is about the experimentation of radio technology, commercial equipment included.
think about how to ENCOURAGE Motorola learning safely with GRACE.....NOT condemnation.

Here is a low cost repeater controller that will give you a "courtesy tone" tone.

Usually, when I forget the MDC on my radio and key up on a ham repeater, some lid decodes it and calls my radio back, invoking an annoying ringing sound from the console.....

Then I remember.

Good thing 'stun' is not enabled on my radio. (Right Peter?)
