r765 iDEN radio

Post by videonerd »

Does anyone have more info on this cellphone/radio? Has it been released yet? It was announced a while back, and then I haven't heard anything about it. There's a few Googled shops that seem to carry accessories, and I've found some on MOL doing a search for r765 but that's about it!

Yes Mikey. iDEN is the Moto product line. Nextel is a service provider.

Seriously, it looks cool and will probably take a pummeling.. but at the end of the day it's still an iDen-only phone. My vote goes to the hybrids. At least that way when you wander into one of Nextel's many no-zones (like a big chunk of eastern Louisiana.. or I-10 most of the way from El Paso to San Antonio) you'll still have CDMA phone service.

Yes they are available. I've tried one out. If you dont mind carrying around a IDEN radio thats the size of a XTS2500 your set. Reminds me a lot of the L1000 and L3000 of days gone by. There hasnt been a IDEN portable since then that compares until now.

The audio from this thing is AWESOME. It uses waris series accessories (RSM, etc) and desktop charger, but NOT the same battery.

Oh yeah, MSRP $2K :o
