Astro Spectra and DEK wiring

Post by wazzzzzzzzup »

what is required to get a DEK going on a remote mount astro spectra? in the RSS it shows options for up to 3 DEKs, is is simply to set it up in the software, connect the DEK with the correct cable and you are in business?

it appears several main radio functions can be moved to a DEK to free up the butons on the control head for other functions that cant be moved to a DEK. (zone, mode, and a button can be selected to revert the radio to a particular channel) theres also a "man" option but not sure what that does.
think about how to ENCOURAGE Motorola learning safely with GRACE.....NOT condemnation.

I know with the original spectra, as long as it is Systems 9000, all you have to do is have the DEK cable and the DEK and reprogram in the software.

Anyways, the MAN button has to do with the Siren/PA module. So if you don't have that, you won't need that button. That also goes for the "Siren", "Wail", "Hi-Lo", "Yelp", "Air Horn", "EX RD A", "EX RD B", and "PA".
Radios I own: Spectra VHF 110W with A7 head, HT1000 VHF, ICOM IC-F30 VHF, and a Puxing PX-888 VHF.
Scanner I own: Radioshack Pro-164

If you want to get around the 16 mode scan limit on the Motorola Spectra, then read this guide and go to the original thread Here! 8)
