XTS5000 with GPS Mic

Post by pluto1914 »

I have the HMN4084A GPS RSM and a XTS5000R w/ Host R12.00.07. I originally bought the mic as it worked with my XTS2500. I am now trying to use the GPS feature on the XTS5K. I have always noticed that there is a delay with the mic. When I turn the radio on it takes about 2 seconds for the RSM to turn on. Is that normal?

Also, I have "Location Enable" and "User Selectable Location Enable" enabled and I have LOC in my menu. When I attempt to acquire my GPS location (while outdoors) I get "Please Wait" with a flashing GPS icon finally followed by "No Service". Is there something wrong with my mic?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Yes.. The Commander mic's do the same thing..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

I wonder why all commanders take the extra seconds to register. I've noticed that on my 3 radios as well.

- Do you maybe need a subscription to the GPS service?

I have had the mic sitting in the window for like an hour and no GPS signal yet. How long should it take?

I left it outside all by its lonesome for about 30mins and it locked in the GPS coordinates. Now that it locked in it seems to work a lot fast and even can pull a GPS signal while in doors.
