XTS 5000 Personality Limit?

Post by grandnational »

Programming an XTS 5K for a friend, have a question on channel limits. CPS indicated max modes of 1000, but I can only add up to 255 channels. (Conventional of course) This radio has Q52/Q53 with R12. Is FPP limiting the unit to 255? Knowing options sometimes conflict, and the history of FPP limiting a platform's capacity (JT1000), it wouldn't surprise me. I believe the radio's F/C is 560001-001306-1. We had a programming session several days ago & I didn't think to pen down the radio's vitals..

Is there something I'm missing ?? Other than that, no complaints yet. :) First time programming a 5K. Very nice hardware indeed. Any help greatly appreciated!

I have a XTS5000 like this also . The personality limit is 255 on mine ,but I know of another one that will do 256 so it must be how its flashed. Most of the FPP v12 will only allow 240 personalities @15 zones of FPP . I added a 16th Zone ,but the CPS did not like it too much. It uses 1 personality for all 16ch in that 16th zone unlike the rest of them that has the proper way of 1 personality per channel. The 16th zone is also non FPP,but that's OK for my use. This is just my limited experience with this radio (7 months).

Interesting, good to know. I was suspecting different firmware revisions might have different limitations. My understanding is Q52 has to have Q53 with it past R09 ? Perhaps this is part of it. Don't know. Slightly disappointing, but not too bad I guess. My friend seems to be happy with it. All 16 zones support FPP, by the way. At first it stopped at 241 modes, but I was able to coax it to 254.

I believe that the way to get above 255 channels is to go to the zone/channel assignment screen and click on the green cross at the bottom of the screen. Every time you do that you will add a zone. In each new zone, go to the TOP of the screen and click on the green cross up there and every time you click you'll add a channel.

The "catch" in all this is that FPP can only be achieved on channels assigned to the first 16 (or is it 15?) zones.

There are extensive references to this subject on this Board available via the Search function. It may take some digging but it's all been thoroughly discussed and explained previously.
