Can someone explain to me the following items regarding the comparator.
1) How the comparator interfaces to a legacy console for vote, lock, unsequlched, fail signals etc. Some one had mentioned that a private vendor makes an interface that is sold by motorola. Any info??
2) What is exactly required to interface the voter to analog lines. Do you need a modem A/D of some sort.
THanks, rob

Re: Astro Tac 3000 interface
1. You should ask your Motorola rep to get you a copy of the AstroTac 3000 planner [R4-26-006].
This is what is stated about console interface:
Other Options
OPTIONAL SOFTWARE
Remote Status and Control Interface (X158) = For interfacing to a console for remote status and control. Reference the Monitor and Control Network Product Planner (R4-13-11) for more information.
2. I don't believe that you could hook regular analog only voting receivers to an AstroTac 3000 voter.
Instead of status tone these voters use Astro signalling to obtain unsquelch status and so on from the remote receivers. You will need Astro modems, V.24 connections, or third party external modems to get that data from the receiver sites to the comparator.

Re: Astro Tac 3000 interface
XMO,
Thanks for the reply. I will try to get the info (however all the MSS guys like to guard info like the Bush's baked beans recipe). I know for fact that the Astro Tac can work in analog, as there is a local FD using it, just havent got out there to see how they are doing it yet.
Thanks, Rob

Re: Astro Tac 3000 interface
As far as I know on the AstroTAC, regular 2-wire circuits bring the analog audio back to the comparator. Interface is via the orange euro-style connectors on the back.
I don't think (thought I'm not sure) you can use anything except AstroTAC receivers or Quantars with the AstroTAC comparator. I know the status tone used by AstroTAC is 1000Hz...
