Motorola MT1000 w/Crypto-Voice-Plus??

Post by kotaguchi »

Hi,

I picked up three mint cond MT1000 VHF 16ch portables on Ebay..

These were former US Government ICE portables according to the tags that were on the radios that I removed..

They all look like supervisor's portable or admin by the cond they all are.

Each radio has "CRYPTO-VOICE-PLUS EQUIPPED"By Transcrypt International on the front covers.

Each of the radios have the longer protruding covers like the MDC1200 emergency button covers to accommodate the encryption hardware inside under the covers.

Wondering if anyone has a info on this particular encryption??

Like is the encryption on these loaded via software programming???What type of memory does it have on the encryption?Volatile memory???

Will the encryption work on the units once I get batteries and turn on the radios??Or do I need to load "KEYS"into it??

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ko

Pretty sure those are rolling code voice inversion with the trademark "click click click" mixed in with the inverted voice. They should just work, unless someone worked some magic over on them when they were surplused.

Some Fed's used to use a TON of that stuff back in the day...

Transcrypt made a ton of retro fit encryption boards for M radios.
They still make some for the Pro series.
They were bought out by E F Johnson recently. I dont know if you can get the programming software, come to think of it some were programmed by a diode matrix. Better crack one open and see if you can find a model # inside
