GM1280/ 380 RSS problem

Post by kul66 »

I've got a GM1280 Model No: MDM25RHN9CK8AE, Serial No: 103TAWG406. After it was flashed to GM380, it was programmed using RSS version R03.09.03 a number of problems occured. 1. When strong interference opens the squelch, the radio shuts off for one or two seconds. After this it continues normal operation. 2: Scanner operation and nuisance delete are totally unpredictable. They may start on or they may start not at all. 3: Volume control does not corespond to knob positions. Usually, it follows the knob after a 90 degrees turn. Is this a software problem or something else? I would appreciate any help.

I have found purely by accident, that if you do ANY model number change on any Waris line radio, you should update the firmware to the latest. After updating some portables with LTR we found that some radios would work, others would not. The working radios had fairly recent firmware, and the ones that didn't had old or very old firmware. I would start with updating the firmware, for after we did our radios, now every one of them works fine. If you are still having problems, I would look at the front board, they have a problem with water intrusion. Makes all the buttons flaky and the volume control non-funtional.

After looking at the 2 model radio's I would say, that you definitly need to update the firmware. You are going from a MPT radio to a 5-tone radio. The radio is probably confused as H**L.

The squelch problem is well known. The radio hangs up after it.Look in the CPS in the bit switch help.
Set the right bit switch for a slower squelch to prevent this problem!

Many thanks for your mails.
GM380's squelch could be adjusted by programm: Tuner for professional radios (global tuner, version: R02.00.01). In this programm i could not find the bit switch.
Can you tell me where to look at?
However, a second thought was that the problem of radio shut down, is based in the function of decoders. Using "global tuner" i turned the "delay" from scale
"7" down to "1" and the problem seems to be less, yet not solved.

You can find the bit switch table in the CPS (not the tuner).
Read the instructions (push help).
