Read Conventional MDC Radio ID

Post by mfred »

Im trying to figure out how to program my XTS3000 to display the names of the ID's that transmit. Currently, when someone tranmits my radio shows their 3 or 4 digit numerical ID. How can I convert this numerical ID to the unit's proper name? Where in the CPS would I do this? Thanks.

I haven't played with the XTS yet, so my answer is unqualified. But, I would look under signalling systems and call list for a method to alias ID's.

Nowhere. XTS3000 radios do not have the ability to alias decoded ID's.

Just trying to understand this further... what good are these 4 digit ID's coming up on the radio's screen, especially when you may have over a hundred of them on your radio system. Theres no way anyone is going to remember who or what "id: 1039" is for example.

It's so they can sell you a newer radio later with better features. The XTS5000 will alias IDs from a call list.

Or so you can use third-party MDC decoder, with alias, such as the C Plus III by Cimarron.

Do they make 19" rack mounts with belt clips? (grin)

Cimarron does make an after market MDC encoder/decoder with an alias list meant for Vertex products. Dunno if it can modified to function in an XTS
