HT1250/GP340 charger - minimum voltage??

Post by g8tzl2004 »

The HT1250/GP340 charger officially requires an 18v power supply.

Does anybody know whether you can use 12-14v , like with most other chargers?

Why did Motorola decide to use an 18v PSU!!!!!

YES, the chargers work well with 12 to 14 volts from a vehicle battery.

There is current and voltage regulation in the charger.

Thanks Will.

I guess using an "18v" PSU provides more PSU sales!!! - although maybe the max current on, say a GP300 13-14v charger PSU, maybe insufficient for fast charging a HT1250?? I will be using a 13.8v 30A PSU.

That should handle it! Be sure to put a 2 amp fuse in the power cord just to be safe.
