XTS3000 M1 To M3 Help

Post by N6LAU »

I have a few questions regarding the software side of converting an XTS3000 M1 to a M3. I'm clear on what to do as far as the hardware side of things and have purchased all the parts I need to do it. What I'm unclear on is exactly how to go about doing this software wise. From doing a search here on the board I've been able to gather that once you've got the hardware side done you basically just need back up the tuning data, force a codeplug/s-record from a M3 in the same split, re-tune the radio and you're good to go. I've also read that using Astro Lab B03.04.00 to do this is a no-no as it is pre-IMBE. I recieved information contrary to that, however, that if you don't unpack the s-records that it can work.

Would anyone who has had actual experience and success doing this be willing to share some pearls of wisdom regarding this? I'm just trying to take every precaution and gather as much info as possible on this before proceeding. Thanks.

Astro lab would work just fine for reading and writing s-records so long as you do not unpack it. Note that if you force in a donor s-record, your radio will now contain the donors sn too. Other than that your steps seem right.

Okay, thanks. So even though both radios have been read and written with the current CPS they will still read and write fine using old DOS based lab B03.04.00?

Got the M1 that I'm going to be converting back in the mail today so I'll be attempting the conversion soon. I'll post my results.

What is the next version of lab software that will handle IMBE on these radios? Is it still DOS based or is it windows based
