Post by motoapco25 »

What version of Astrolab do you need to Read a Xts 5k or 25K ?

im thinking there is a newer Windows based Version because the 5k cables are USB based

am i far off base in thinking that?

Your a bit off,

It's called ASTRO25 depot tool and unfortunately it is node locked to a particular parallel port dongle during the software installation.

The software requires the dongle when it is loaded on a particular PC for the first time and every time thereafter.

Each individuals copy of the software is restricted to a certain number of installs and it is matched up to one particular dongle.

So even if you found a copy of Astro25 depot tool, without the matching dongle and without it being the initial install on your PC you would be SOL.

Motorola has finally got it right, they now have a method to stop people from copying and passing depot tool around.

BTW, without the dongle and without the software load being the initial install, even if you found a copy it would work just like regular CPS with none of the depot features available.
