HT1250 firmware update?

Post by bezking »

Hi all,

I have an HT1250 with R03.00.00 firmware and am interested in bumping this up to the latest. How would I do this? I tried searching the board, but I couldn't find a firm answer.

Thanks!
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

If you have a current subscription to the Pro series CPS and access to it on MOL, you can also download the most recent firmware. It's a pretty easy upgrade with its own utility that runs in XP. You'll also need the appropriate programming/service cable (rib to radio or ribless) and a flash adapter that places the radio in bootstrap to allow the upgrade.

There are tons of people on here that can also help you out if you aren't able to do it yourself.

OK, so a normal cable can work? and where do I find this flashing adapter?

Also, when I look in the Resource Center I drill down to HT-EX-CDM and then click on "Firmware/Flashing," I only see one for the Mobiles - I guess I'll call tomorrow and see what's up. FWIW, I have an active subscription to H5177R which includes HVN9025 - so that should work, right?

Yes, that subscription should give you access to the firmware on MOL, once you ask they should make it available to you.

You can purchase the flashing adaptor from Motorola, part# HLN9742. Alternately, you can make your own following this drawing on Batlabs:

Unfortunately that diagram has an error. There needs to be a connection between pin 1 and pin 7; the connection dot is missing in the line from pin 1 to the switch.

Thanks guys. For the record, when you call, be sure to select Pre-Sales support, not MOL support. The support rep will put you on hold and he will talk to the MOL team and get it added. When I called MOL support, they told me the firmware wasn't even included with the software! Then he transferred me to Pre-Sales and he fixed me up.

I just updated my SW and was wondering... are there any special updates added to the FW to make it worth doing? I am actually running 1550's
I did notice that when i did the Update that the FW was not there either.. thought it was strange but paid no attention to it until i saw this post.

Not to stray this post too much from it's original intent.

Depending on your current version of firmware there can be LOTS and LOTS of differences. i.e. The original poster was going from 3.0 to the current version and from experience that contains several changes to the way the radios scans and how it's programmed for scan. There can also be updates on certain fields that were once not available or weren't working as originally intended. Unfortunately the "fix list" has a tendency NOT to be published or even known by anying except the firmware developers. (not generally the case for the XTS line however)

Thanks for the reply.
I have already ordered the "flash" cable. I did not know that it required another cable to do this(i should have guessed) when i get it i will see what the new upgrades are. I believe i am running one of the more older versions of FW for both my Mobiles AND portables. I bought all of them right around the same time and they have never been updated(flashed). I have not been using my mobiles for a while , but my portables get used all the time. I am in the Process if re installing my Mobiles so when i get them installed i will make the upgrade.
