MC2100 - Codeplug spec number not supported by RSS

Post by g8tzl2004 »

I have a European VHF MC2100 - it looks like an MCS2000 with a type 3 head but does 5 tone Selcall. The radio TX/RX'es OK.

I am using the latest DOS RSS (R02.10.01) dated 17 Dec 1998.

When I read the MC2100 , I get "Codeplug Spec Number not supported by this RSS".

I have asked around and suspect that the MC2100 is using custom firmware and special RSS.

The MC2100 was NEW (old stock) still in its box - there was nothing on the Motorola label on the side of the box to indicate anything special or custom. Details are as follows:

M01KHN9AN8AN
204IWS00** (= manufaacture date of Sept 1996)
MR304A
MC2100 VHF 1-25W N8

I guess I could flash the MC2100 with regular firmware. However , does anybody know if the MC2100 did use some special RSS?

Is it possible to force a recognised codeplug into the MC2100 without needing to use a modified RIB and new firmware?

Thanks

I have now established that my MC2100 was originally programmed with "Special Ambulance" RSS

Has anybody ever used this?
