Hello,
I have a Astro Saber VHF that use to work and after sitting around for awhile it now does not. I would like to check the fuse on it however I do not know where it is located. Does anyone have a link to a picture showing where the fuse is?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Astro Saber VHF does not power up
Fuse is internal, near the battery contact, it is a surface mount component IIRC.n0vzc wrote:Hello,

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

I found it. It needs to be replaced. Good think we work on surface mount products at my work location. Hopefully they have a fuse to replace it otherwise I will have to order one or maybe a few. It is just a 2 amp fuse, right?
Thanks,
Mike.
Thanks,
Mike.

n0vzc,
You better order at least 10 fuses, They are very very tiny in size and you will need a magnified glass just to see the dam thing. Your better off sending the RF board and the fuse to a shop and have it done. Its not all that easy to replace.
It takes person with very skilled hands and well trained eyes to replace the fuse. I'm sure some one here has the part number for the fuse.

Uhh, hate to be obvious, but, Motorola. I know that the MTS fuses are the same physical size, amperage should be close.n0vzc wrote:Where is a good place to order these fuses?

Yeah,I know how small those fuses are..I used to do caps or resistors so small you had to use magnifiers to see the parts when I did rework on pcb boards at the plant I used to work in.I am IPC 610D trained. The worst damage is when someone tries to solder and heats up a pad and lifts it from the board.
