gp340 programming

Post by jimmyb »

Hi all,

About 7 months ago I bought a pair of gp340s on eBay and picked up a usb programming cable and software so that I could program them. I need them for an event I'm working on in a few weeks, so yesterday I finally got around to setting them up. Main problem is that the units appear to be password protected, and the seller has since deregistered and is uncontactable (which is itself a bit dodgy, I know :-( ). The software I have is D03.02.01 and the only codeplug I have is v4.0 whereas the plugs on the units are v6.0. On the stickers behind the batteries it says:
Ver. No: R03.03.00
Type: PW502C
Model: MDH25RDC9AN3AE
I've tried the tricks with disassembling the software and searching for the password dialog, and I've been through the hex code following all the hints in http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=51318 etc, but there are no instructions for my software version - I know it's ancient stuff and the units are relatively new which I assume is the problem.

I spent hours last night and this morning searching through this forum and lots of other places online and trying everything but nothing worked and I'm not sure what my options are...some way of bypassing the password so I can edit the codeplug or different methods possibly...any help would be great :-)
Thanks,
James

As I remember, you may program another proper codeplug on protected one if it is not important for you. By this way, you will loose your codeplug data of course.

I never got this fixed and have finally got back to trying - more events looming. Never managed to get around the password, leaving only overwriting the codeplug as an option, which would be fine if I could find a version 6.x codeplug for gp340 anywhere! Not sure who to ask or where to look - have had another day scouring the web and finding nothing current. Any ideas?

Cheers all,
James

that's an overseas version of the ht750 right? that radio isn't capable of cps passwords, or at least the 750 isn't. and if it don't have a keypad so it's not capable of power up passwords either

There are some ways to fix it.
The best is to create a password protected codeplug with your CPS,so you know the password!
Run the codeplug in the CPS without entering the password.Start HxD and look in the internal RAM for the password.
You see some things around the password too.Use these later, for finding the unknown password, when the message appear after you´ve read the radio.
Another good way is, to disable the password with a modifed CPS.
