HT1250 Problems

Post by emt123277 »

Using PPCPS and keep getting the following error:

"An error occured while trying to read radio personality. Number of read blocks could not be obtained"

Help please, I'm sitting on 6 HT1250 LS+ that we are trying to put in service at the fire company but can't program.

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

Someone on this Board can certainly help you to figure out the answer to your problem but they can't do it until you tell us what your setup is, such as the cable you're using, whether you're doing analog or LTR and, probably most of all why the person who sold you the radios can't provide the help you need. In other words, more (a lot more) information, please.

CPS via 9pin "RIBless" cable to the HT1250 LS+.
The RSS reads the radio for the Tx/Rx alignment tool but not for the actual editing.
The radios were purchased from an out-of-state vendor at a considerable discount. The vendor stated he does not program radios, he's more of a broker. I purchased 12 HT1000 off him and programmed them myself without incident, I just can't get these to work properly. As far as any other info, I'm not 100% sure. I'm no expert on radio service or programming but typically do all of our radio programming from our Minitors to the HT100's, our officer's MT2000's and the vehicle Kenwoods. I haven't come across such a frustrating problem like I have with these portables.

Are you using these radios on a Passport system?

Just a straight simplex system. Nothing fancy. The prob is I can't access the radios, as stated above. I have pro radio CPS ver 06.00.

Ok, got to the FD and logged into the computer, the CPS I was using was version 01.0.171 that gave me the initial errors from the first post.

Called a friend who has CPS 06.01.00 and it gives the error "Unsupported Model" and then "Application does not support reading this file". My prgramming cable is a duel RIB-less cable that works fine on our mobile-converted-base radio (CDM 1550 LS+).

Don't know what else to do, unless anyone wants to buy these radios I need to convert to narrow-banded portables ASAP, this downtime is killing us and I don't have a budget for $1000/radio replacement values.

I'm not sure why you'd want to use PassPort CPS for conventional programming. CPS version 6.01 is older than dirt. Upgrade to current version and go home happy. New subscription is about $300 and if you order the "right" kit (dealer kit) you get a free OEM programming included as well.

Not on good terms with the local moto dealer, multiple programming errors on various pagers, portables, and mobiles. So much so that all the mobiles were sent back on a voided contract, we now have kenwoods.

I will look for an updated version of cps through my resources and only if/when push comes to shove will I'll blow $300+ to program 6 radios.

Any other suggestions beyond upgrading the cps or is that likely the problem?

I suspect the problem lies with the cable (is your ribless cable OEM or aftermarket...?), I wouldn't look at the software just yet. It should be able to read the radio OK

Cables are not OEM. the dual use cable does however read our CDM 1550 LS+ Mobile that I converted to desktop base station. The cable reads the 1250 for tuning alignment (which I will not screw with, just verifying the cable works).

Im coming upon the same problem.

CPS 6.01.00

RLN4008B Factory Rib.

RKN4074A Programming Cable

HT1250 Software Version 05.14

Trying to read, I get the above message UNSUPPORTED MODEL, then APPLICATION DOES NOT SUPPORT READING THIS FILE.

Sounds like the CPS is too old? This is a HT1250 I purchased used off of eBay several months ago and am now just getting around to reading it.

I had the same issue with a HT1250LS over the weekend. Error message of unsupported model and unable to read the file. Ive done numerous HT and CDM 1250's without many problems with the CPS and the aftermarket ribless cable and that was the first time Ive ever had that error come up. This was a refurbed 1250LS portable with 2 channels already in it from motorola. The original portable was sent back to motorola with some problems (not from programming) and I guess they couldnt figure out what was wrong with the thing so they sent a replacement. After getting the refurbed unit went to stick the original codeplug in it and it wouldnt take. Just tried to read the existing code plug and got the same error message. Thats what lead me to believe the CPS was too old compared to what was used at the factory. All I wanted to do was put in like 8 analog channels. Guess it will need to be sent off to the local moto dealer and let them deal with it. I believe the CPS I was trying with is 06.04.00 which ive had for a couple years now.

Correct. Motorola found that having an error specific message like "Codeplug is too new for this application" made too much sense.

What is the current CPS. I have 6.08.05 Figured that would be new enough.
