XTS5000 USB cable ? and other data cable ?

Post by mike m »

4 questions on the xts5000 programming/data cables

1. Is the RKN-4105 the correct usb cable for the xts-5000 and windows XP ?

2. I noticed that the help files for CPS 14 list the above cable as Win ME and Win 2000 only, does the above cable work with XP pro.

3. Also is there another separate data cable available for the XTS5000 ?

4. And finally, What radios use the HKN6177, 6178 and 6180 data cables ?

Yes.

The cables are not OS dependent, other than you'd have a hard time using a USB cable under anything prior to Win98.

Not as such. The only other cable for an Astro25 portable like the XTS5k is the RKN4106 serial programming/service/flash cable.

Those all show that they're for use with the HPD1000 radio modem. 6' USB, 17' USB, and 20' RS232, respectively.

thanks for the reply, especially about the modem cables.

Another problem/question my reference to help files should have said CPS 12 not CPS 14 which brings up my next problem.

Is there a known issue with CPS 14 not loading the proper help files ?

I have installed and uninstalled and re-installed CPS 14 and my help files are still pulling up version 12 help.

I went directly from cps 12 to cps 14 skipping 13 due to a certain Govt. agency not approving 13 at the time.

Disregard the last question about help files.

Initially all of our work PC's were loaded with CPS from MOL and someone, not me, forgot the download help files.

I found the CPS disk in our mail slot which fixed everything
